Well, we knew it was coming, but we got all of these bills in the mail today! sigh.
Eric has been doing decently well with the chemo. He has had a few symptoms: tired, strange tastes in his mouth, and a little nauseated at times. Not really much more than we have been used to the past few months. The other day we got a big surprise; one of his massive glands has shrunk to almost nothing in size! It is the first time we have seen something get better rather than worse in a long time. We are so happy!
This week we had a lot of things happen. First, our heat really stopped working (it hadn't been very great for awhile), so we had to get that taken care of. It's been freezing in Provo as many of you know, but when we felt the heat pouring out of ceiling vents finally today it was like manna from heaven. Our dishwasher is also not working haha! Go figure. We are grateful for a good landlady that is quick to act when we call. A functioning dishwasher is on the way! We also got a new couch today. Eric spends so much time on it these days, his family and we decided it was about time for a new one.
We celebrated the last week of classes for me, and my birthday this week, and thank you for all the birthday wishes, presents, cards, thoughts, etc. I'm not telling my birthday wish because I want it to come true so bad!!!
But I think you might be able to guess...
And pseudo-speaking of...
We did hear from Eric's doctor today. It is confirmed as PTCL, which is the rarest of the possibilities. It doesn't typically react as well to chemo, but our doctor was cheered to hear that the one gland is so much smaller, and that his night sweats are not as frequent. There going to do some more bone marrow things next week when we go up for chemo. I'll explain it better when I understand it better. Promise.
I like that your shirt says, "I am by" It sends a good message. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI like that couch. Can we be couch twins? We are really glad things are going better. We are praying hard for you guys.
ReplyDeleteHolly, did you ever think of being a writer? You do such a great job!! We love the couch, and all the things you mentioned also. Talk to you soon. Love Mom and Dad
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your title, lol.
ReplyDeleteHooray for your last week! And I hope that you had a Happy Birthday, you deserve it. Your couch is so nice, I love it! And Eric is awesome.
I fell asleep just looking at that couch it looks so comfy... and my soda wouldn't even spill....genious! I heard that if you just put your bills in this thing called a shredder, all your problems go away.... of course, that advice was from MC Hammer. "Yo bills...'Can't touch dis'!"
ReplyDeleteI am so happy about the gland! That is so cool. Good for you guys. I hope the blessings just keep on coming.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you too! We need to celebrate with some BYU hoops :)
Thanks for all the updates! :) You guys are such an inspiration!! :) Wonderful about the gland shrinking!!! That's awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteSee you in a week!!!! SO excited!!! OK, I promise to try, try, try not to cry when I see you guys but considering I cry just when I think about it -- I'm crying right now -- I guess I'd better wear waterproof mascara!!! :) Love you both so very, very, very much!!!
I have never seen love and strength written so well. Prayers from Arkansas and the Florida kids, too.
ReplyDeleteThat Bill sounds like a real jerk. Holly, I hope all your wishes come true. Nice couch. Did you get a new one because Pace spilled his pizza all over it? It had something to do with Pace, right? Eric, keep fighting the good fight. You got this!
ReplyDeleteso glad to hear the good news! and congrats on the couch. :) sometimes a new couch lifts your spirits in ways you never expect :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Eric yesterday at the Pinnacle thing from Jenna... You guys are in our prayers... let us know if there is anything that we can do to help... One thing that helped my sister during Chemo with the strange tastes in the mouth was to use plastic silverware rather than metal... she would even ask for it at fancy resturants :)
