Congratulations Holly for Graduating from BYU. Class of 2010.

Alright alright it's my turn to blog. Eric here, going to give you the readers an update on our lives. Be forewarned I am in no way a good writer. I can't compete with Holly and her blogging skills. And don't make fun or judge me if I use the wrong kind of "there". So without further ado let's get on with it.

First things first. We went to the doctor last week for my 2 week check up. (I will be going every two weeks until my 100 day mark which will be the beginning of July). The check up is just some blood work and talking to my doctor. My levels were great last week. My levels were great last week. My white blood cells were at 2.98! Anything between 3-10 is normal, so I'm getting there. All other blood work looked great. Dr. Gilbert talked to me and pretty much said don't get sick in these next 100 days and we will go from there. They took my pick line out of my arm, so I'm normal. Since then my showers have increased dramatically. The doctors also said my hair should start growing back in the next few weeks. It's good to want to go to the doctor now, I like seeing my progress and getting my dose of confidence from my doctors that I'm doing what I need to, to beat this thing.

This may come as a surprise to some of you but we are moving this weekend. Apparently we thought we were getting a great deal on this place, turns out the rent price was for EVERY MONTH, not flat. We were shocked when we got an eviction notice. No, our landlord's daughter is getting married and then are moving in here. We found a place just south of campus close to school and Holly's work, and will be living there for the summer. We are sad to move but I don't think it has set in yet. We love our branch and the friends we have made in it, we like it here but what are ya gonna do?

Next I want to take a minute to give some shout outs. If you don't make the list or I have forgotten about you I blame it on chemo brain. Mikey and Melissa came down for Melissa's graduation. It's always fun to see them and hangout with them. Davy and Hillary came over and we met little Ollie. Cute baby, fun stories an all around great time. The Mahan Clan (Mike, Cindy, Gram, and Kelli) were also here this weekend. We had a great time of eating and catching up on life. Last weekend my good friend and mission buddy Kirby came down for the weekend. He makes Visitor of the Week. He's a great friend and I had a great time with him. As you can see, we have been very buys the last couple weeks. It feel great to be eating and feeling normal again. I played some basketball yesterday for about 20 minutes. I give a shout out to my basketball shot for coming back so quickly. We have missed each other.

Lastly I want to chat about Holly. I often tell her that since I have gotten sick she has dealt with far more than I have. I truly believe that. Let's talk about it, since I got sick (only a year into our marriage) Holly has managed to finish her last year at BYU, get a job the second we needed one, and take care of me while trying to deal with this garbage herself. She is Superwoman! I married a strong woman. I am proud of her for graduating and always being positive. She is now working at her new job
and bringing in the bacon. Holly is amazing, but we all knew that.

  7. You totally got me with the rent thing, lol, I was thinking to myself, "they got evicted! they didn't tell us that!"

Congrats Holly on graduating! I loved Eric's last line, ...but we all knew that.

You're both the best and don't be surprised, we're going to be friends for a long time.

  9. Very well done, Eric. Let me just say that you BOTH have been rock stars through this situation. I am a little biased towards Holly. She's pretty much my favorite. Shout out to both of you for your optimism and perseverance. We love you guys very much!

Pictures from the Cruise

To accompany the last post. And Eric is the best for sending me the pics! Because they are great. It's just from the zip lining in Ensenada but it was so fun. Just off the ship in Ensenada. The whole group. Love being a part of this family! Getting geared up. Literally.  Don't be fooled. I was petrified at this point. This is Dave and Katie but it's the best showing of the first bridge. Eric about to cross the first bridge. I think this was the 3rd one. This was the easiest, I thought. Even though I look a little off balanced here. This is Katie. But this one was actually the hardest I thought, because you had to reach so high. My shoulder killed for like 4 days after this. Oh, and how about an actual zip line?! Doesn't look fast, but it was. It shows the distance really well, though. Eric had had enough and decided to take over the mic for the duration of the "tour"

If You Know Hospitals...

... then you might have suspected how much our plans would change this week. Yesterday Eric went in for the bone marrow biopsy and they decided to keep him overnight and do the PT Scan as well. This was a change of plans we welcomed, despite the fact that I had to stay home while he stayed up there. We are very grateful that they did both procedures yesterday, so that hopefully we will know everything by tomorrow (again, here I am, trying to make plans!). They only biopsied one hip, and the only part that hurt was the needle to numb him, "like a hundred bee stings" I believe he said. Then Peggy and Eric waited in the waiting room until they fixed the scan machine and he was admitted to a room: the exact same room as the one we stayed in over Thanksgiving, in fact. One of the nurses didn't even know he'd left! We have a few updates on the condition of his cancer. First, they have narrowed it down to two types of lymphoma: Hodgkin or PTCL. We are hoping it is Hodgkin, b...

Have you met my friend Bill?

Well, we knew it was coming, but we got all of these bills in the mail today! sigh. Eric has been doing decently well with the chemo. He has had a few symptoms: tired, strange tastes in his mouth, and a little nauseated at times. Not really much more than we have been used to the past few months. The other day we got a big surprise; one of his massive glands has shrunk to almost nothing in size! It is the first time we have seen something get better rather than worse in a long time. We are so happy! This week we had a lot of things happen. First, our heat really stopped working (it hadn't been very great for awhile), so we had to get that taken care of. It's been freezing in Provo as many of you know, but when we felt the heat pouring out of ceiling vents finally today it was like manna from heaven. Our dishwasher is also not working haha! Go figure. We are grateful for a good landlady that is quick to act when we call. A functioning dishwasher is on the way! We also got a new ...
