20 Facts About Me

This is going to take me forever. I've been trying to come up with things all day and I think I have two.

ONE I journal. I have five full journals plus my current, starting in December 1997. I thought the old ones were lost forever when my parents moved from Broomfield to Montrose, and I had one of my happiest moments when I found them in my parents garage this last year. I don't write all the time, but they mean a lot to me.

TWO I love Pepsi. I hate Coke (I tolerate it at Chipotle only, and Cherry Coke at the movies). I love Pepsi in this order: fountain, can. I'd rather not drink from a plastic bottle at all. And there is also a scale of fountain Pepsi, which is the 7Eleven in American Fork, then any Crest (which is a group of Sinclairs around here), and then any other. Dr. Pepper is my other drug of choice and it in best order is 1. in a can from the laundry mat in Broomfield, CO 2. noodles and co 3. anywhere else. Most people don't screw up their Dr. Pepper, thankfully.

THREE If I didn't have a somewhat real job, I would probably dress like a hipster.

FOUR If I have a volume that is quantified by numbers, I put it on an even number if at all possible.

FIVE I am really allergic to cats, first discovered when spending the night at my childhood best friend Natalie's house, her cat Blackie was sleeping with us and I woke up with a spontaneous bloody nose. It was downhill from there.

SIX The thing I am most afraid of in this world is losing Eric while we are still young.

SEVEN My prize possessions as a child were my mini backpack (blue and green plaid), my giga pet (Lisa had a nano kitty, I had a dog), and squirrel nutkin. I slept with him and he still resides in my apartment, though not in my bed unless I am particularly afraid of the dark and Eric is out of town.

EIGHT I miss my old friends. I feel like even when I try to keep in contact with people, they are not disposed to stay in contact with me. I'm not sure what it is in my personality that doesn't stick with people, but I wish it did. I miss my roommates from college, my high school friends, but I rarely keep up with any of them.

NINE I'm not a good singer, but I have always enjoyed it unless it's performing in church. I have never enjoyed that and I was probably a horrible brat every time we did. Sorry, Mom and Dad. I also play the piano and simply play the guitar (amateur). I am good-not-great at piano but I did not play enough to stay good.

TEN I really want to turn Eric into my baby daddy.

ELEVEN My prize possessions now are my wedding ring, and after seriously thinking through everything I own the only things I can think of are my journals and the apron my mom made me.

TWELVE Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. Close second is Easter.

by the way it's been at least an hour and half so far...

THIRTEEN I know all the lyrics to "Drop it Like it's Hot" by S-N-DOUBLE-O-P D-O-DOUBLE-G.

FOURTEEN People have compared my to various celebrities throughout my life. When I was young it was Julia Roberts (I believe, no resemblance at all), next Ashlee Simpson (L-O, L-O, L-O, L-O-V-E), Paris Hilton (one time when we lived in Virginia beach a guy in the shop genuinely thought I was Paris Hilton--- ask Kelli,--- she was there), Ashley Tisdale, and Rachel from Glee (don't know her real name). I find it interesting and not always flattering haha. I think the one thing we all have in common is a long nose. Minus Julia. Just don't see that one.

FIFTEEN I have a very morbid imagination. When I'm walking downstairs I'm imagining that i trip and fall and break my neck. Everytime. I wish this was not true about me.

SIXTEEN I truly love my religion. I believe it, I live it, and it makes me very happy.

SEVENTEEN Eric makes our bed 99% of the time, and it makes him mad 100% of the 99% of the time that there is a lump in the bottom of the bed where my sweatpants from the night before reside. I go to bed cold and get really hot in the middle of the night, so off the pants go. Sue me.

EIGHTEEN I burp a lot, or should I say loudly. It's not necessarily frequent, just memorable. One of my brother-in-laws hates it, and told me that if they happen to die and I am responsible for raising their child I must not teach her to burp like me.

NINETEEN I have never been to a Disney theme park. We almost did once, but it was too hurried, and we decided the first time needed to be an outstanding experience, so we are still waiting.

TWENTY  My favorite color is pink. And as a friend in high school once said, "Holly wore pink before it was cool."

  3. I am laughing my head off, so even though it took you all day, they are well worth reading! You are awesome! Oh, and the Julia Roberts thing is your wide, toothy smile and your gorgeous light-brown hair. That's my assessment, anyway.

I had a baby.

It's a boy. I actually came to blogger to write about something else, but then I realized I haven't announced that I did, in fact, birth my child, and he did, in fact, make it here, which I'm not making light of. It is a fact I repeat to myself often. He is here, we made it. I am his mother and Eric is his father. He is a person and he learns every day. While it is easy to see him for what he is most right now, which is CUTE , he is also mellow and funny and happy, observant and sometimes timid, and sometimes noisy, aware and eager to grow. It is an amazingly wonderful and spiritual thing and I'm grateful every day for my son and the opportunity to raise him each day. I have had too many close to home tragedies recently to take this for granted. My dear neighbor and friend lost her son at 4 years old, an unexplainable accident that took him home to Heavenly Father. Another, my sister's closest friend, lost her son at 39 weeks pregnant, his body born to his famil...

Pictures from the Cruise

To accompany the last post. And Eric is the best for sending me the pics! Because they are great. It's just from the zip lining in Ensenada but it was so fun. Just off the ship in Ensenada. The whole group. Love being a part of this family! Getting geared up. Literally.  Don't be fooled. I was petrified at this point. This is Dave and Katie but it's the best showing of the first bridge. Eric about to cross the first bridge. I think this was the 3rd one. This was the easiest, I thought. Even though I look a little off balanced here. This is Katie. But this one was actually the hardest I thought, because you had to reach so high. My shoulder killed for like 4 days after this. Oh, and how about an actual zip line?! Doesn't look fast, but it was. It shows the distance really well, though. Eric had had enough and decided to take over the mic for the duration of the "tour"

Just a little curious

Does anyone else go back and read their own blog? Of course you do. It's a journal format. But I wonder if anyone goes and reads anyone else's blog still. I still read my parents' blogs, but even those have been several months. I haven't looked at my sisters' blogs in years, I don't know if I can remember the urls.  I logged in just to see if I could still get access so I'm leaving a little note to the world. It is so strange how the world changes. Personal blogs felt so permanent, but they weren't. They faded, and while it's still here, maybe no one else will ever read this again. Maybe an anthropologist digging through digital history trying to discover what the ancient world was... but doesn't it feel like all of this will be gone? And they'll be trying to learn more through my hairbrush and stanley cup?  But who am I to predict what will last and what will disappear?
